Adaptacija romana Henrika Sjenkjeviča, uz manje izmene u odnosu na original. U prvom planu je sudbina
Juranda od Spajčoua, koga su mučki napali Krstaši iz Šticna, na čelu sa okrutnim komadantom Zigfridom.
Istovremeno, dolazi do romanse između Zbiška i Danuzije. Vrhunac je bitka kod Zelene šume (Grunwald).
Tokom izdajničkog napada na Spajčou od strane Krstaša, na čelu sa komadantom Zigfridom, Jurand ostaje
bez svoje žene. Kako bi zaštitio svoju ćerku Danuziju, od slične sudbine, šalje je na dvor Vojvode od Mazovije.
