Opis:

Dobitnik Pulicerove nagrade, crnac Endrju Sterling, useli se u novu kuću u elitnome delu grada ne sluteći što ga čeka. Naime, njegove komšije, znatiželjan bračni par, po boji njegove kože pretpostave da je reč o lopovu koji je provalio u praznu kuću, te pozovu policiju. Kad policija, koja je u međuvremenu opkolila kuću, uvidi počinjenu grešku, šef policije u strahu za vlastitu reputaciju na skorašnjim izborima smisli ludački plan. Sitnog kriminalca Ejmosa Odela namerava iskoristiti za svoj cilj - ponudi mu slobodu, ako ovaj potvrdi Toliverovu priču - da je Amos uhvaćen kad je provalio u kuću
