Meštani jure jednog vampira u crnom ogrtaču i njegovog suparnika. Vampir uspeva da se spase i sakrije se u podrumu vina obližnje palate.
Palata je vlasništvo plemića Volfganga i njegove supruge, Luize koji baš održavaju maskenbal. I tako vampir prođe nezapaženo. Ubrzo se
zainteresuje za Luiz. Začara je i te noći je još ugrize za vrat. Nedugo nakon toga Luiz oboleva i na savet kućnog lekara Volfgang otputuje u
Beč po doktora Ničea u cilju da spase njegovu ženu. Ali čim doktor primeti tragove ugriza po njenom vratu, postaje lovac na vampire. I tako
započinje hajka za krvoločnom vampirom...
