Opis:

Prvi zadatak poručnika Droga je da ode u usamljenu tvrđavu na ivici pustinje i visokih planina. Misija garnizona je da spreči mogući napad Tatara, koji dolaze iz pustinje. Neke kolege oficiri željno iščekuju napad, neki više ne veruju u njega, a drugi koriste prednost neizvesne pretnje da bi napredovali u karijeri. Svi žrtvuju sve – zdravlje, mladost, prijatelje, porodicu – za daleki vojni ideal: Rukovođenje odbranom protiv neprijateljskog juriša. Ali u ogromnom prostranstvu koje okružuje tvrđavu, niko nikad nije video Tatare.
