Kineske snage su ubile tada između 28 i 38 hiljada ljudi. Film je inspirisan slikom domaćih intelektualaca, koji daju svoje živote kako bi zaštitili svoj narod, svoje dostojanstvo, i proživljavaju gori teror pod nadolazećim komunizmom, nego što su ga doživljavali pod Japanskom okupacijom.
